Beth, I agree entirely with your post. I still might take out scars, pimples, or discolorations but people should be who they are.

I find it hard to edit casual candid photographs of aging loved ones.

I think to myself, “I’ve watched her change over the years. I remember what she DID look like and I know how critical she feels about her aging face and changing figure.” I seem to choke & lose restraint. I’m tempted to “fix” too much; trying to “restore”!

What complicates matters is that we’re a close family & many of my female relatives know I can edit my photos. After I take the picture they often say, “Okay, be sure to photoshop it, right?!! Make me look good, Bethy!”

Ugh…

You make a very compelling point, inspiring me to revamp my wedding packages. I feel one of the more rewarding aspects of wedding photography is the creative process of the album.
